*SPOILER ALERT*
If you haven’t read/finished Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows yet, and you don’t want any plot details revealed, stop reading this post.

*HERE BE THE SPOILERS*
Is it just me, or do chapters 14 (The Thief) and 15 (The Goblin’s Revenge) contain a lot of Lord Of The Rings type elements? Harry reluctantly places the horcrux locket on a chain around his neck, and it immediately makes him feel supernaturally uncomfortable like the Ring of Power. Meanwhile, dementors are gliding around all tall and faceless in their hooded cloaks just like ring wraiths. And to top it all off, they’re camping in the woods. I don’t care, because it fits the story well. But I wonder if it’s a coincidence, or if Rowling had some (conscious or subconscious) inspiration.
